Alt-rock icons the Red Hot Chili Peppers and alt-pop duo Gnarls Barkley have announced plans to join forces for a US tour that will take place early next year.
The two groups will hit the road in January and spend three months playing arenas throughout the states, according to Warner Bros. Records. Specific dates for the outing will be announced "shortly," the label said.
The Chili Peppers are in the midst of their own headlining arena run, which launched back in August and wraps up early next month. Details for the remaining dates on that trek are shown below.
The roadwork supports the Chili Peppers' ninth album, "Stadium Arcadium," which surfaced in May. The disc, which follows 2002's "By the Way," moved about 442,000 copies during its first week in stores, enough to earn the group its first No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 chart. Sales have been fueled by leadoff single "Dani California" and follow-up cut "Tell Me Baby."
Gnarls Barkley--featuring Grammy-winning producer Danger Mouse and vocalist Cee-Lo Green--is supporting its debut full-length, "St. Elsewhere," which spawned the mega-hit "Crazy." The duo is currently preparing a limited-edition, deluxe package of "St. Elsewhere" for release Nov. 7. The updated collection will include a 92-page booklet and a bonus DVD containing four music videos, as well as live recordings, according to Warner Bros.
