Johnny Cash admitted just weeks before his death that he was "thrilled" that Joaquin Phoenix would play him in his movie biopic.
Speaking about the casting, movie director James Mangold said that Cash was a big fan of Joaquin?s movies and that he saw parallels between himself and the actor.
Mangold told mtv: "Cash loved 'Gladiator', He knew all the lines."
