Pink Floyd's 1973 album Dark Side Of The Moon has just clocked 1,500 weeks in the American Billboard charts.
Whilst not consecutive, this still represents almost thirty years in the chart. The album originally spent 736 consecutive weeks in the chart before dropping out for the first time in 1988.
The landmark achievement comes not long after Roger Waters announced he will perform the album in its entirety on his upcoming European / North American tour. The 62-year-old founding member told Billboard "When the record was finished, I took a reel-to-reel copy home with me, and I remember playing it for my wife and herbursting into tears when it was finished. I thought, This has obviously struck a chord. I was kinda pleased by that. I thought to myself, Wow, this is a pretty complete piece of work, and I had every confidence that people would respond to it."
