i bought it in lake elsinore ca. i traded a brilliant zildjian ride for it and gave them,i think an additional $100.00 for it. itnulls an older earth ride. the reason i wanted this particular cymbal was the sound quality.it is beautiful.not to look at.but the sounds are awesome.it has at least three distinctive sounds and very little to no wash!

this cymbal is the most durable cymbal i have in my gig bag itnulls heavy but well worth the wieght.and is the cymbal that inullve had in that bag for the longest period of time.i would never get rid of this cymbal,unless... god forbid something happened to it.and one thing is for sure,i will not break it by beating the hell out of it with what ever size "drumstick" i choose. |

i bought this cymbal about five years ago in my home town of houghton, mi. i think i paid about 140-150 for it. i bought the cymbal, because at the time i was in a punk/metal band, and wanted something that would really cut through. beleive me, this cymbal CUTS.

like others may have said, this cymbal is loud......very loud. depending on the type of music im playing, i like to switch between wood, and nylon tip sticks. the rebound off of the earth ride is nothing less than instantanious! it is very easy to get doubles and triple hits off of this cymbal. on the other hand though, especially when using nylon tips, younullll find that you sometimes get double hits where you dont want them due to how hard this thing is, and its lack of movement. i dont know the exact weight of the cymbal, but it is by far the heaviest cymbal for its size that ive ever seen. |

this cymbal is very good for heavier music. it cuts through, and definatly defines the tempo of the song. as far as my experience though, i would suggest a little thinner ride for anything else. it almost sounds like your always hiting the bell of a medium ride constantly. but dont get me wrong i love this cymbal, it just has its place. |

the sound quality is beautiful. no matter how fast you hit this cymbal, you can hear every little hit. it is not forgiving. i havent found a desireable sound hitting the edge of the cymbal, but using it as just a ride, i dont believe you can get a more reliable consistant sound. |

as far as durability, there isnt a cymbal on the planet that is more stable than this. good hardware, and a couple extra pairs of sticks are definately a good call. |

i have had this cymbal for quite sometime now, and i dont htink i could ever part with it. it is tough....very tough, and always sounds consistant. the world could have an all out nuclear wa, and i know this thing would still be here. so anyone looking for a consistant, loud, accuate ride, this is a good bet. |

I bought this cymbal for $180 in Central CT in 1998. Inullve always wanted one, since they came out being fascinated by the dryness of Tony Williamsnull ride sound-I thought this one took it a step further!

This cymbal is the heaviest on the market and can not be damaged from anything approaching normal use-sledgehammer might do it. The cymbal has the clearest stick definition that I have heard-which is good and bad-good for right hits bad for mistakes as there is no wash to hide behind. It is a very unforgiving cymbal and it presents the maximum challenge for a player to bring out itsnull subtleties. It cuts through any mix due to stick definition and sheer volume. It is a good metal cymbal, but I would like to make a case for jazz/blues use as well. Personally, I use two rides in all situations one ride with a wash (flate ride, jazz ride or medium ride) and always always the Earth ride-it provides such a nice contrast. It does ring like a bell, but hitting it with the shaft of the stick makes it sound like a gong. Again it is the supreme challenge to bring out itsnull different timbres-if you want to learn how to play a cymbal this one will break you or give you an edge once you learn it. |

I have already talked about itnulls qualities and limitations-it really is a hunk of metal that is in your face, but is hard to find different sounds in. Stick response is fast! |

A cymbal for the ages-archeologists or aliens will be digging up earth rides thousands of years from now. Cuts all other cymbals for stick definition and can be heard outside the club. No wash other than the tang of ringing metal. |

I would gladly carry this cymbal into battle with ax and sword, knowing that my opponents could not harm me as long as I block sword and mace blows with my trusty earth ride. It does not move much, but you cannullt scrimp on stands-double braced for sure if you are booming it! |

I have several rides and I always take this one out because of itsnull unique qualities of clarity, penetration of sound and extreme dryness, but I would not probably take it out as my sole ride-it is a great companion ride with a more washy ride-night and day. I would reccomend it with reservations as there is no wash what-so-ever, but if you want a totaly honest compact sound that can be heard no matter what-buy it. |

i bought it second hand from the drum centre in nottingham, england. there was no way to tell it was second hand if you know what one looks like you will understand why. Basically it looks old and kinda rusty. the shop had a brand new one going for ?180 which looked and sounded no different to the one i bought at ?90!

This Is one immensely heavy ride cymbal! itnulls about 3.5mm thick! most really heavy rides are quite big but this one (thankfully) is a regular 20" which is useful when room is a bit tight. the best way i can describe the sound is it sounds like you are hitting the bell wherever you hit it. because it is so heavy it doesnt really make a noise if you hit it with brushes. it also doesnt move much at all when you hit, even if you hit it quite hard so that makes speed/thrash metal playing a lot easier. |

because it hardly moves when you hit it, you get a quick bounce so you can play really quite quickly. i usually use ahead sticks so there are hardly any vibrations but i went back to using wooden sticks on it once and i got a strange tickle every time i hit the cymbal. |

its the heaviest weight piece of bronze youve ever played. you wont be able to even dent it or kink the edge if you hit it with a hammer. something the ancient greeks would have called a shield. |
