Review by a visitor on 19.5.2004

i boaught it from ebay for ?150 with a kustom 10W bass amp , lead , strap and gig bag, i got it about 6 months ago

  Features

its is one mean lookin machine and it plays well to, but as you can expect its not the best 5 string out there but its cheap as chips exelent for a begineror even a spare for a expert, bt if you want get this bass and you are a expert i advise a sadowsky built in preamp this will improve guitar sound drasticaly and make it sound beautiful, the controls do what theres suposed to and it is brill value for money

  Playability

peforms brill compared to outhers in its price range, bt if u want to fork out ?175 for a squire on you go , its beter sound a build quality, oooh or even ?550 for a stuning ibanez k5 luvely

  Quality

it is a little noisy when the tone is up, bt its quieter thn basses of the same price

  Durability

it stays in tune, the body scratches and dents easy and shows up those grubby finger prints bt that dusnt realy matter its the music tht counts and at this price you cant get any better

  Overall

i choses it because it was so cheap and i am happy i got it

This was my first 5-string bass, I got it from a shop in Glasgow, Scotland for £129 about a year ago.

  Features

5-stringed bass with 24 frets. Controls for volume, bass and treble. 2 pick-ups. The large number of frets mean that the neck is very long. It does not have a scratch-guard.

  Playability

It has a very deep, serious tone, which along with the extra low string make it ideal for low music like metal. The sound is not as good as with other basses, but this bass is pretty much ideal for anyone who wants a cheap bass to make especially low music.

  Quality

The bass and treble controls work very well to help you find the ideal sound. There is sometimes a bit of noise, but generally there are no problems with sound quality.

  Durability

The bass is quite reliable, itnulls never failed to work in the time Inullve had it. The jack has come a bit loose and occassionally needs to be tightened. The body is a bit fragile, it has a few scractches and small dents in it. It is very reliable for staying in tune, I can sometimes go several days without needing to retune it, and it stays in tune if it is knocked. One problem is that the bass is very heavy, and it has sometimes fallen off the strap, which could be a problem for most players.

  Overall

I chose this bass because it was the cheapest 5-string I could find, and seemed good value for money. Although it is efficient and a good choice for beginners, I would not recommend this bass over another for the more advanced player. It is cheap and good value for money, but if its sound quality you want and you donnullt mind spending a bit more than this probably isnnullt for you. The main problem with the bass is the weight, its one of the heaviest guitars Inullve ever played with which makes it not very ideal for general beginners, but its pretty easy to play if younullre used to holding a guitar already and just want to start playing 5-string.
