Piper represents some of the Floyd's best work while Syd Barrett was still a member of the band. Due mostly to Barrett's strong influence on their early music, the album brilliantly represents psychaldelic rock in its finest and most acid-induced era. The lyrics are intriguing and the music is sometimes dreamy, angry, or the old "cant tell if im comin up or down" style. All of the band members contributed significantly, and each of them (with the exception of drummer Nick Mason) have at least one song attributed solely to them. Overall a very good album and a pleasent surprise for floyd fans who are mostly familiar with Wish You Were Here, The Wall, and DSOTM.
