A couple things. You don't need to drop D tune this one at all. What the heck is a D5? The chords are D A D/F# G. The third chord is a D, because if you listen to the higher guitar part you hear him going back and forth between the NOTES E and D with the NOTE F# interchangning for the D on like every third one. You wouldn't ordinarily do that over an F#m, though you can get away with it on this song.
Also, the song is in the key of D, which if this guy knew any theory would dictate that the player use sharps and not flats in notating it.
