This was the last good album that metallica made. I liked load, reload, and a lil of st. anger. After this one bob rock sent metallica straight into the ground. The songs on it are good though. So i would give this album maybe a 8.5/10 on the rating. Best album was "And Justice for All".
This is the base for all modern heavy metal. Even People in the Old Age Homes have heard of it. This is an excellent example of Metallica at thier prime. James Hetfield provides vocals that were and are second to none while playing hard thrashing metal guitar. Lars Urlich deserves his title as lord of the drums pushing out infective rhythyms left, right and center. Jason Newstead delivers solid Bass crunch and Kirk Hamett provides lightning fast lead. Some of the all time classic songs are on here including : "Enter Sandman" "Nothing Else Matters" "The Unforgiven" and "Sad But True". It is one of the most classic albums in Metal History so it is definitely worth buying it.

This is the greatest album in metal history. Bob Rock did an incredible job in producing this album. Every song on this album is an absolute Metallica signiture.
In my opinion the black album is the greatest Album by metallica of all time. Awesome solo's, great and meaningful lyrics, great vocals from James Hetfield and Excellent guitar work from Metallica's lead guitarist, Kirk Hammet. My favourite song on the album is Sad But True and Enter Sandman. This album is a must have for any metal fan. It really is an incredible album. I rate the album 10 out of 10.
