Review Marshall MG10CD

Review by a visitor on 20.8.2006

Bought tis amp recently from Guitar Center. Was a great value. I bought it to replace my Epiphone EP-800, which recently died a death that Epiphone cannot be held accountable (turns out my 110 plug had a 220 current running through it). It was recommended over a few larger and more expensive models. I have to admit, I actually love this amp. Great value!

  Features

This is a strong little practice amp. It packs a lot of punch for the size. It delivers in both sound modes (clean and overdrive) and is surprisingly adept at both. IIt has great tone control, and a beautiful sound. Itnulls a bit crunchy at the low end in overdrive, but I donnullt find anything wrong with that. It delivers a nice warm tone in clean mode that works for electric acoustics, although It could be better. the clean tone is beautiful, though, when playing an electric. My Les Paul specificly.

It could use a reverb control, though. That is really the only true weakness I have found in this amp.

The CD/mp3 plug-in feature is a nice touch that I use frequently. It was a clever addition.

  Playability

Compared to my old Epi, this amp, with itnulls smaller speaker, kicks ass. It is stronger, crunchier, and smoother than the Epi, and I couldnnull be happier with it. I have owned Fender, Epiphone and Danelectro practice amps over the last 20 years, and I donnullt feel any have come close to this amp. No matter what sound I am looking for, I have had little trouble getting it out of this amp.

  Quality

I have owned Marshall stacks, and found the quality to be top rate, and Marchall does not disappoint with tis practice amp, either.

Sound quality rocks, and both the clean and the overdrive effects deliver. Again, a reverb control would be nice. The unit generates less white noise than my past practice amps, surprisingly little, actually. It handles high volume well, with little to no unwanted distortion.

  Durability

Usually I wouldnnullt comment after such a short time, but I have eight kids, and the amp gets beat up and knocked around a lot. It hasnnullt exibited any loss yet, and gives bo indications that it will later. If my brood cannullt wreck it, I would say it is safe to say that you wonnullt have any durability problems either.

It hasnnullt needed any frequent adjustments, and is steady from beginning of play to the last note. I wouldnnullt iuse this amp live, but I havennullt found a better practice amp.

  Overall

Overall, this is the best practice amp I have owned, even though it is the smallest. It has very few weaknesses, and a huge upside. I love the sound quality, the durability, and the features. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a solid practice amp, and who isnnullt planning on using it live. Itnulls just to small for live gigs, and would be drowned out. But it is perfect to tote around and practice with.

I bought this off my Uncle for 20 bucks. But I these usually go for 60-70 bucks at my local store and online. I bought this amp because I needed an amp for my guitar. And I know marshall was good so I went with it!

  Features

Strong Ponits: VERY Loud for a 10 watt. Pretty good Overdrive, Also has the sexiness of the Marshall name.

Weak Points:The clean channel isnt too well for an Accoustic Electric because you usually the accoustic sound is greater then the ampnulls sound. For an electric the clean is fine.

  Playability

Yes, Of course i can. As I said before if you turn this up too much, the accoustic electric guitar will give some feedback. But for an electric, this amp is awesome! The overdrive is good and the clean is good too.

  Quality

Overdrive, Clean and everything else, is GOOD!!! Like I said many times before, if you have an electric, your fine, if you have an accoustic/electric then you would need to adjust this a bit because it does give a lot of feedback(the guitar)

  Durability

Strong Points: Perfect for a practice. The overall unit is strong.

Weak Points: NOT for live gigs, I would be drowned out by the other amps.

Awesome. I cant say anything else about it. Its perfect for practice. For live gigs. it is not. But I really wouldnnullt see anyone who wanted to play in a live gig this small of an amp. yes, I am considering a bigger Marshall amp in the future, but for now, Im all set!
