I have a Fender Telecaster USA, and a Gibson Les Paul, and a Gibson ES 150 semi, and a PRS. BUT, I have been recording way more lately than playing gigs. I was tired of setting up my guitars, running all the software and layering effects on my Macbook. I love all the Line 6 stuff..PodXT Live, Toneport, etc. All the Boss and Korg Zoom use digital processing to get their various sounds. None of their effects processors are analog anymore. So the question is do you want to run a guitar through the processor or would it be cool to have the processor on board. Without pikups the soundbord is clean and without stress point made by the pickup pockets. There is no microphonic noise which can be really annoying especially when recording. The sounds that yoou can create are limitless. I don;t have the time, money, or space to accumulate every frickin guitar on the planet so I can sound marginally different from one track to another. If your not a player and you just want to here cool music you wonnullt care or be aware if the Les Paul patch is exactely like your friends Custom. Only guitar players get to the point where they can delineate one guitar sound from another. The Variax plays great..it really rips ...most amature guitar players look for a new "holy grail" guitar to improve their sub-standard ability. If younullre really focused on the music you will be running out to buy this amazing guitar that combines a nice traditional feeling instrument with some awesome technology... |

I spent more time dialing in the tremolo on my Strat...Inulld rather dial in the strat sound and play music.. If your looking for pretty..buy a nice shirt for stage performance, lose some weight, get your teeth cleaned... I look at a guitar as the tool of the trade...to make music. |

I do not own this guitar how ever ive played it alot. The Line 6 Variax series are modeling guitars, basically what they do is replicate other guitars and even a sitar, banjo and a resonator. All the models have been recreated by including every aspect of the original guitars from shape to areodynamics.

You cannullt go without giving this guitar a full rating for features when it contains 25 guitars plus a sitar, banjo and a resonator. But my personal favourite is the Variax workbench wich is sold seperately, which is a program for pc and mac which lets you design your own guitar and store it in up to 60 banks inside the variax guitar, and you can even have alternate tunings, for example you can set the guitar to and open G tuning and when you play the sound out of the amp comes out as the alternate tuning yet your guitar is physically in standard and it keeps all the tone. |

I played the 600 and the 700 and they play great, the action is not too high but maybe low for some players, the frets are nice and smooth and you just glide over them. But the first time you play a variax you kinda feel weird because there are no pickups so when younullre playing you just feel like something is missing but you get used to that after a while. |

No noise Yay, finally a guitar that doesnt use magnetics, usually on stage amps, lights and computers would all mess up your soundwaves but the variax doesnt pick up any of that stuff. This guitar seems like it could last a while. It definetly stands out from other guitars as it is the only guitar that is alot of guitars in one. The only problem i have is that the sitar is pretty crappy, it sounds great but you only get the sitar sound on the g string but the sitar is great when use for lead and you are just to single finger slide along the string. |

A great thing about this guitar is it does not use magnetic pickups so you could have a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier plugged into eight cabinets with the volume up full and have no backround noise. The body seams as strong as any other guitar, the only problem is that it can fall out of tune pretty fast but just fit some locking nuts onto it and that should keep it in tune. |
