Itnulls a modeling amp with some of Line 6 effects. Good points: Very reliable Excellent tone. Clean sound. Light distortion OK Quite loud, rarely need to mic it. Relatively light weight. Models decent but limited. On board tuner is great. Use it often just to check my tune. Is fast and I can check it between songs.
Weak points Effects are marginal very limited control. No Send In or Send Out No extension speaker jack |

I am pleased by the power and clean sound. It is one of the better sounding sollid states and at the higher volumes I play at, it holds its own with Blue Jr. and Classic 30 and moderate priced tube amps.

Like I said. You have select a model, play with the tone and gain until you get something you like. It will can be a great sound, just not like you might be expecting. BTW, it sounds completely different with my Ibanez AS73 than it does with my American Strat. If you change guitars, you will probably have to fiddle so decide which axe you are going to use before the job and store the settings.
The effects have minimal control. One knob controls speed and intensity. I donnullt use anything but a little reverb or delay or tremolo (and then only a little) If you use too much, the sound sux. |

To summerize, I am pleased with it as a working musician. It is very reliable, is ready to go when I need to play. It just needs to sound really good but not like a boutique amp because of the music I play. It is relatively light weight and at since passing 60, weight is becoming more of a factor in itnulls favor. I simply can no long haul a Fender Bassman around. |

I bought my S2 4 years ago from my local music shop for around 500. Loved it up until this weekend when it completely crapped out before a gig. Currently every time I turn it on, it makes this really loud and fast "popping" sound and the tuner will not work. I am assuming that this is a problem with my input jack, but I am still uncertain. Either way, I am buying a new head unit very shortly and it will not be a Line 6 product.

The distortions and effects are fantastic. I hooked this into a Marshall 4x20 cab and it basically lit the roof on fire. SO much sustain. The only thing I was unhappy with was the footswitch that came with it. It is only a 2 way footswitch, so you cannullt switch from channel b to channel d without either hitting the button on the amp itself, which takes your hands off of your guitar; or without going through another channel to get there, which is a little less than ideal for gigging. |

Pretty nice amp, as far as playability goes. I played several amps out there, and my reason for getting the line 6 was for onboard effects, so if you are looking for the same, then you are looking in the right place. |

The sound quality of this amp is fantastic. As stated earlier, I played mine through a Marshall 4x20 cab, using a dean caddy guitar and you can reach any sound in the spectrum with this amp, especially if you have the ability to utilize coil tapping on your guitar. |

This amp lasted me 4 years before breaking. I would say it is steady enough to gig around with, especially if you are micnulling it. Only thing you have to worry about really is having too much of an effect. the delay can really screw up since it is so overwhelming. |

i have a few different amps ive got a vox valvetronik and a marshall mg all of which have less features but the features they have are infinatly superior in tone and quality. the delay on the line 6 is awfull, the only other effect i tend to use is a little reverb which sounds ok but its hard to get that sound wrong. all the other effects are used so infrequently i wouldnt use it as a reason to buy an amp. the clean channel is is good mellow but bad at anything else its not clear and not punchy the overdrive is awfull and it doesnt get any better untill you really crank up the gain which produces a very good metal tone. |

One of the only things I donnullt like about it is that it only has outputs. No CD ins, or effect send and return loops (just incase I donnullt feel like using just the line 6 models) and only has a headphone output. Great sounding effects, I just wish you could change the depth of them a little bit. |

This is an extrememly good value and Line 6 could easily raise the price if they wanted to because Overall this amplifier is excellent. I have friends with the smaller 1x10 and 1x12 combonulls and they both cracked rocketproof windows doing pinch harmonics, and they still hold up fine. These are indestructible on the inside (cosmetics always go out over time and therenulls nothing you can do about it) and I would recommend these to anybody looking for an eclectic sound. Not so common of most modeling amps these days when it comes to anything other than rock and metal. |

It seems to have lots of different styles at first but they are very similar and the blues and twang sound terrible. The distortion is brilliant for metal but for standard rock it really isnnullt distinct enough and the sound just isnt right. The clean channel has a brilliant tone to it and the effects on it are pretty good especially for the money. I have noticed that you need to have a quality guitar to achieve an ok sound without a decent guitar it sounds horrible. |

The Spider 2 has nice features. amp modeling, Effects, noise gate. The metal tone is pretty good. The delay effect is pretty sweet, My buddy has a fender deluxe 90 which also has a delay effect. I would say his is delay sucks. It sounds more like an echo. The insane tone was good for awhile, But when on the red led setting, It just sounds like bubbles and not distortion. I also had to chuckle at first when i turned it on, i wasnt expecting an LED light show. |

first of all, Getting the shortboard is a must, There is too much features to play with when you just wanna jam. I still need to buy it. I had my volume knob at like two, and i was switching the delay effect to the tape echo, and the volume just went higher, im not sure how the hell that happened. I havent really played it too loud, Didnt even go halfways. so im not really too sure how it sounds loud. it fell down a flight of stairs(maybe like 8 steps) and nothing bad happened. |

After trying out amps from Vox, Marshall, Peavey, and Fender, I decided to give the little Line6 112 a shot. What a surprise. I always thought that the first Spider series was a little lacking in the tone department but this was a whole new ballgame. The 12" Celestion really gets down and dirty, behaving like a full-on gig ready 112 rather than a 30 watt practice amp. There are 4 channels, each representing a different Spider II amp model: Clean, Crunch, Metal, Insane. With those models and adjustments to the Drive, Low, Mid, Treble, and Channel volume controls, you can get a surprisingly wide range of tones. The FBV4 floorboard is a must and lets you switch between all 4 channels on the fly. The effects are controlled by two smart knobs. The first contains Flange/Chorus, Phaser, and Tremolo while the second has Sweep Echo, Tape Delay, and Reverb. There is a tap tempo button for the delay (can also be set with the FBV4.) Other useful features include a noise gate/compressor, distortion boost, and a special tone setting when using the emulated line out. |

This thing is flat-out fun to play. Even though it has a limited number of effects wehn compared to other Line 6 amps, it does them all very well. I find myself playing more and coming up with some very different lead lines than I would have had I not been exposed to some of the effects and tone variations of this amp. I play an Aria AXL with Duncan pickups (S/S/H) and an Epiphone Les Paul studio. The effects and settings are very easy to use. To set the memory on a channel you simply adjust the knobs to get the desired sound and either hold in the channel button on the amp or on the floorboard to save it. On aspect that adds to the playability is the outright volume that you get from this thing. If I turn it up to 4 it shakes the windows and that is not an exaggeration. The emulated line out doubles as a headphone jack and does a good job of reproducing the tone coming out of the speaker (this is a Line 6 after all.) |

I havennullt experienced much hum from the amp but with a built in noise gate that can be activated I donnullt see this being a problem. The effects quality is far better than they deserve to be at this price point. The main competitor to this in my tests was the Vox AD50VT which was much more expensive. Despite having a tube in the preamp, the Vox high gain settings did not compare to the Insane channel on the Spider II. The Marshall also had a valve preamp but had a far sweeter tone than the Vox, however it lacked the flexibility of the Spider II. Overall, this is the best amp for the money...hands down! The quality is absolutely ridiculous for the price. |

I have only had this amp for about a month. It seems well built, like a practice amp that was meant to be taken on the road. The handle is solid, the construction is solid, and I cannot find any instances of sloppy construction (such as glue seeping out of any internal joints like I saw with Peavey and even a Marshall). The knobs are plastic and while they do feel very sturdy and turn smoothly, I would prefer metal although it was only 2 bills so, whatever. |

For what amounts to a $200 practice amp I have to say that Inullm blown away. I went in to Sam Ash looking for a good practice amp that could handle some sketchpad recording and maybe even some rehearsals, and ended up with something that I could see being used to play live. If you get a chance to play one, set it to the Crunch Channel, put the Drive about 3/4 of the way up, put the Low and Mid at 10, the High at 8, the channel volume at 10, the master at 5, and the reverb about 1/2 way up. Now hit a barred G. "30 watts my a**", will be your comment as you listen to one of the best blues tones you have ever heard shaking the room.
Inullm usually pretty good at finding faults and flaws in gear but in this case I have to say that for the price and the intended purpose, there is no better amp for the money in existence. Congrats to Line 6 on a job well done! |

a great amp if ur tryin to access as many sounds as possible, it has 6 amp models that can switch b/w 2 modes (one lower and higher with more sustain as well as gain). these models r clean, twang, crunch, blues, metal, insane(which is a pointless model in which u cannot hear ne clarity of the notes u r playing). it has 7 effects and a seperate controlable reverb. a line in for head phones and pedals/effects. one weak point is it only has 1 guitar line, not 2 like i would prefer |

a great sound, but the ampflifier goes through a digital processor, not a valve, so it doesnnullt have that great tone of gold like marshall plexi heads |

BY CAMERON MILLER (THE BOINGO GUY) I had been useing a Squire Strat and lilnull 15 watt frontman amp for about two years, and decided I needed to move up to some better equipment. I had a 300$ budget, and it came down to a mexican made Strat, which I liked for it sunburst design, or the Line 6 Spider 2, which I liked for its crazy effects. My decsion came down to wanting a better, different tone for me guitar. So I bought the Spider. Twas a very good decsion, and I ended getting an Epiphone SG for an etirely new set up. But it wouldnnullt be complete until I reviewed it for you all.

The effect are what sell this amp. For 300 dollars this puppy gives you all this:12 different amp types (Clean, twang, blues, crunch, metal, insane and all the areanulls inbetween those) and the effects:chorus flange, phaser, tremelo, delay, tape echo sweep echo and of course al the areas in between. It also has a awesome little LED light show when you turn it on, and LED displays, and four programable chanelles for saving your tones for easy recall. The one problem is that these effect are great when younullre just jamming, put the only pedel Line 6 sells for effect changing (FBV short board) isnnullt compadible with this amp. So if you want to have the effect for easy acess you have to program them to the chanells, which would be ok, except therenulls only four chanells. That one little thing really hurts the usefullness of the effects. But hey, theynullre still great. |

Ohh yeah, this thing delivers a wealth of posiblities for jamming. I havennullt played many other amps, but I still donnullt get how someone will pay 1000 dollars for a fender amp with one type of tone, when they can save hundreds of dollars and get an amp that can do so much more. Instead of just your basic drive, bass, middle and treeble controls, the Spider also gives you the options of amp types (12) and effect (12),a long with your basic equalizing. The possibilities are pretty much endless! |

Man, the sampled amp types sound great. The Spider can do clean chord work, hellish metal solos, hard rock crunch, boogie woogie blues (I cannullt beleive I just wrote that) and sythesised computer tones. On some of the harsher metal tones you get a odd snaping sound and some buzzing, but I think it adds to the distortion. Itnulls hard to find some feedback, some may say this is good, others (me included) feel itnulls bad. Basically, at the turn of a couple of knobs you can go from not just one tone, but to a different amp. The multiple amp effect is not just hype, itnulls all itnulls made out to be. |

The amp weights alot, but I enjoy it so much I bust my back carrying it between my Mom and Dads instead of settling for my wussy Frontman. The amp has two little special "hidden" effects, noise reduction and distortion boost. The noise reducion is ok, and distortion boost is good for givin the tone a rought edge. But a problem is the distortion bost is hard to get rid of. Even after you try turning it off, it will pop back up in the middle of your playing. The boost makes the tone louder, so ya turn it down. The a minute and a half later the boost will go away, leaving you with your guitar being too quiet. This becomes extremely annoying when younullre trying to play a solo and your guitar goes from hideouslly loud to pathetically quiet. The amp has excellent power and hardware, but this one think hobbles the whole process. |

I love this amp. You can just get lost jamming with it and can easilly move from style to style within a song. However, some of the effects get lost without a good pedal to call them back. Donnullt worry thoght, the good far outweights the bad. It really is like owning 12 different amps and effect pedals! |
