My dad bought me it from Dolphin Music for about ?295, I got the satin black finish cause my experience with glossy guitars is that they get marred with fingerprints in no time at all :) I bought it cause I knew it was time for a new guitar really! The price combined with the Seymour Duncan Pickups, Floyd Rose trem and unique look made me choose this item.

This guitar has very simple controls, just the volume knob and a three way pickup switch (neck, neck and bridge, bridge). Jacksons location for a jack socket is pretty terrible, as it is on the inside wing, meaning when you sit down the jack will dig into your leg just a bit. Using a flat headed jack helps with this, as does standing up. I think the simplified controls are a change for the better, as this model has done away with the ugly plate featured on the other Randy Rhoads guitars, its a more "natural" look. If you need to control tone, you really should be doing it at the amp anyway. The strap knobs are well placed, the weight of the fin balences the guitar superbly, making it excellent for playing at whatever end of the fretboard. The short 22 fret neck allows speedy playing, as does the super low action :) The licensed floyd rose tremelo works just fine, if this is your first guitar with a floyd rose, its not as much a pain in the arse as everyone makes it out to be, granted a string doesnnullt snap on stage (then your screwed, keep a backup guitar =]). Restringing takes 10 minutes tops and retuning about 2, its fairly tight out of the box, but you can dive super low and pull right up without worry of it breaking, which is great if you tend to do a lot with the tremelo arm. A tremelo arm is included as is the allen keys necessary for restringing, retuning and adjusting the action :) |

I can safley say this is one of the best guitars I have played to date. The super low action combined with the short neck and balence makes this guitar perfect for jamming and being in stage with (where the style sure helps too!). It produces excellent clean and crisp sounds, the Seymour Duncans really do their job. As a metal player, I tend to use the bridge pickup the most, I run it through a Zoom 707GFX pedal with some of my custom modes and into my 50w amp, it produces some of the most bone crunching riffs going.
As you should be aware, the floyd rose has downsides. First off, if you palm mute hard, you can forget it because it will move the bridge and change the pitch. It also shortens the sustain of a note, but if you bought this guitar, you should have bought it to play fast anyway :) But the advantage is you can be a total show off, pulling all sorts of vibratos and squeals to impress your mates :D
Its pretty lightweight as well, meaning you can play for hours without your shoulders breaking! The lightness of it was a big pull factor for me.
I play two other guitars, a 1978 AR50 Ibanez Artist (BEAUTIFUL GUITAR!), for rythm and as a backup, and when Inullm in school Inullm stuck with a crappy squier strat. Needless to say, the strat needs to be smashed up and built into one of these :). Compared with the Artist, it plays a lot faster but its not quite as smooth and has less sustain (the AR50 is neck through though). |

Smooth clean sound and runs like a dream when younullve got it tuned up right. The humbuckers buck the humming (DUH!), making it excellent to run through whatever pedals you have in your Allidinnulls cave of them :).

That bloody fin! The guitars most aesthetically striking feature is its biggest weakness (other than the jack socket), the fin sticks out pretty far behind you when you are playing. Inullve had this guitar for a week now, and theres a tiny chip on the very end of the fin (less than 1mm), but its served as a warning. I donnullt know how the glossy finishes stand up to punishment, but that long brittle fin needs to be watched out for. I would imagine if this guitar was dropped and landed on its fin, about 1/3 of it would completley snap off...
Take care of it! Its your baby :)
Because its a bolt on, if you ever happen to break the neck (F@&*%$G IDIOT!) You can replace it (Inullm not sure how much this will be, but it will be costly). Thats no excuse to get sloppy with it!
Really you should be buying a hard case for it, a third party company makes a decent hardcase for ?70 (as opposed to jacksons ?200 one), a bags not gonna keep this thing safe. Again due to the fin...

Despite its two striking weaknesses, I am totally in love with this guitar. I would suggest to a more serious musician getting the RR3 or above, but when you just want good clean fun and play a few gigs down at the local barfly or whatever, this guitar is what you need!

I brought it off PlanetofSound.co.uk, for ?328, not sure what that is in $ Inullm afrtaid.
I brought this guitar because my old Peavey Raptor was falling to bits, slowly but surely. I was sad to replace it, but I had to. This guitar looked the business. I have always loved shark-fin/flying-V style guitars. I also love Floyd Rose trem. arms.
I got it in navy blue.

Strong points:
If you like metal/rock then this guitar will suite you down to the ground. It solos like a beast, it fits perfectly into your hands. The frets were good quality.
The tremelo arm is brilliant, no other word to describe it!
I thought I would hate not having a tone control, but you have a three way pick up, and if you have any foot pedals that can control tone you wonnullt have a problem. I actually like not having the tone control in some respects. The pick up is heavy and feels good.
Bad points:
Not convinced by the floating bridge, Inullve only had it a week, and Inullm probably not used to it. My Peavey was simple, this is a lot more complex |

I have played a lot of guitars. Compared to a Gibson Les Paul Standard it is better, and a lot cheaper. Its a dream to play on, guitar solos feel more natural on this than they did on my Peavey, as well as on the Les Paul.
Compared to a Fender Strat they feel quite similar. If you like the feel of Fenders than you will love the RX10D.
The balance is slightly odd - due to the shark fin, the neck rises up a long way. However, this isnnullt a problem, because I play a lot of bar chords, clean that is, and its far easier to play with the neck higher, and it still looks cool. |

Sound quality is very nice. Plenty of harmonics in there. Its best to use distortion on, even if you donnullt use much to play solos on, its clean sound is good, but not as good.
I have had buzzing problems, again, due to my inexperiance with the guitar.

Played it at one gig so far, which was an absolute disaster, not because of the guitar, because of my disorganisation.
Its brilliant to play live though, I had no further problems, apart from my leads and stuff not working.
So far I have had to adjust it a lot, again, due to my inexperiance with the guitar, I simply couldnnullt get it in tune. But other people say once its in tune it simply refuses to go out of tune. |

Inulld buy another one if this got stolen, but it takes getting used to. I wouldnnullt buy this guitar if you are new to guitar, its not a starter guitar.
It does live up to my expectations, and more. Inullm certain that once I get the hang of it a little more I wonnullt have any problems. Inullm not new to guitar, my technique is good, but Inullm not good with technology and stuff, so it has taken a little getting used to.
Inulld buy a better one if Inulld have the money, the value of this guitar is outstanding.
Even if I had more money I probably wouldnnullt buy a new guitar, Inulld buy a new amp. |

I bought my Jackson at a guitar center for like $350. I was looking for a new guitar I oringally wanted a Les Paul but my budget didnnullt work with the prices of them. I finnally found the Jackson that I now own today, I played for a few minutes and loved it. The sound is awesome. I strongly recamond this guitar to any serious guitarist.

This guitar sounds really good but it does need some matanece once in a while I polish mine like every other time I pick it up. It really should have a hard case (most likely custme, which means more $$$$) It is all worth it though it plays and sounds great. Look out for the input to the guitar mine fell in and took me a while to fix but, I did my self and it didnnullt cost anything. |

I think its OK when it comes to durabiltiy, it needs to be tuned about every other jam seccion. I have not yet had a chance to play a live gig yet but I have jammed with friends. It holds up pretty good for jamming. |

I bought this from a pawn shop for $175.00 because the previous owner had no clue how to tune a Floyd Rose Temolo. It usually sells from $500.00 - $800.00. It was an absolute mess, two strings were actually touching the fret board. Inullm a blues player but from time to time I play with my sonnulls metal band and I wanted something a little on the radical side. The black shark fin body with chrome accessories made for a sharp looking guitar.

I took the guitar home and spent about two hours tweeking the tremolo and the string height and have never had to do it again. Re-stringing is a bear, especially if you are playing a gig and a string breaks. It took me about twenty minutes to replace a string and re-tune the floating bridge but I do love the simplicity of the one volume knob and the 3 position toggle switch for the pick-ups. Inullve got enough foot pedals and amp effects for anything else I want to do. I hated the balance of the guitar the first time I strapped up, the neck steadily dropped as I was playing. I relocated the strap knob closest to the neck to one of the screw holes that secures the metal neck plate. Perfect! No new drill holes, and I can always change it back if I sell it. If you buy a Jackson shark fin type of guitar, i.e., RR-1, RR-3, etc, etc, be sure to get a case with it. Mine did not come with a case and although I am sure I could order one from somewhere, I thought I could pick one up from a pawn shop. I tried about 20 different cases and none fit. I finally went and bought an oversized hard shell shotgun case that holds two shotguns for about $40.00 and it fits perfect, but a custom case would be better. |

Now we get to the best part. Man, is this thing smooth! I almost have to force myself to play my other guitar now. Not long ago I was invited to a jam session to play with a guy who is an outstanding lead guitarist. Before I started playing, I asked him to play my Jackson and tell me how he liked it. His cheapest guitar is around the $1,000 mark. He wailed on my axe for over 10 minutes non-stop and gave the usual "yeah, it plays pretty good" compliment. He picked up his guitar and started playing again and about 1/2 through a song, he stops and says "man, I must not be in the mood to play tonight." He was not going to admit that he enjoyed playing my Jackson RX10D, but about an hour or so later I walked outside to take a break and heard him playing it. |

Inullve not had any problems with sound quality and noise. Although I havennullt had any problems with the bridge, I am sure some would say that the floating bridge is the only draw back. If Jackson would lose that bridge and relocate the strap knob, I think the RX10D would be one of the most popular guitars for the rock players. |

I think most player would not rate it this high because of the floating bridge, and truthfully, if I am near the end of a gig or set and a string breaks, Inullm going to my back up guitar for the rest of the night. But I regularly play 4 hours straight without any adjustments or tuning issues. |

I would like to play a Jackson Solo or a RR model just to see if all have the same action and tone quality as mine. If I trade up one day, I am sure it will be another Jackson. |
