I had been looking for a new birch shell snare drum for my set up when I stumbled across HBnulls website.
I am on a tight budget and a lacquer finish birch snare for under $100? Well.... I had to check this out!

5.5 x 14" 18 ply (yes, 18!) all birch natural finish snare drum. The finish and build quality on this drum are excellent! Better than some others that Inullve seen advertised for 2x the price! Great quality lugs, snare throw off,
bearing edges. The only problem I had was a slightly bent hoop, which I replaced with one off of another snare that I have for parts. Minor annoyance. Easy fix. |

THIS DRUM SOUNDS FANTASTIC!!! It has the high end attack and low end fundamentals that a good birch shell
drum should have. It has 16 (8 top and 8 bottom) lugs so tuning this drum is a BREEZE! One thing tho... CHANGE out the stock heads, they are JUNK! I use Evans ST dry on top and a G1 on the snare side- awesome!
I have had plenty of sound guys and studio geeks comment on the sound quality of this drum. So much so, that I am going to purchase an entire HB kit in the near future! |

Sound quality of this drum is OFF THE CHARTS! It sounds way better than a drum in this price range has a right to! The build quality is very good, except for a slightly bent hoop. This drum sounds as good or better than any hardwood shell drum Inullve ever played! It does need some tweaking, but ultimately, so do all drums! |

Other than a hoop being slightly bent, this company has delivered a high quality product at an easy price.
A company set out to serve the needs of the true "working drummer" The customer service is second to NONE!
Dave Moody (president of HB) is one of the MOST helpful and nicest guys in the business and should be commended for running an obscure company like EVERY company should be run. With the customernulls needs first and foremost! I was a sceptic at first, but now??? Inullm a believer and an HB customer for LIFE! Thanks Dave!!! |
