Review Greg Bennett Signature Avion Les Paul

Review by a visitor on 25.11.2006

I bought my Avion in late October, at DC Music in East Liverpool, Ohio. I payed about $350 for it (I bought some extra things too so that added to the cost). When I got to the store they let me try out all the guitars...and this one stuck out. It played so beautifully. There was another model for $500, but they almost sounded the same. This is the second guitar Inullve bought, and the first one was a Squier Strat. This one sounds way better. So before you buy a Squier or an Epiphone, take a look at one of these.

  Features

Great, great guitar. It looks and sounds wonderful. It comes with two Seymour Duncan pickups which get a real good sound. Each pickup has its own Volume and Tone knob. There is a rhythm and a treble switch setting, which changes the pickup. The only bad part (which is particular in mine) is that itnulls experiencing some backbow. This makes the 5th and 6th strings give off a fuzzy, buzzing sound. These donnullt appear to pickup on an amp though, and arennullt all that noticable anyway.

  Playability

This guitar performs very well. I donnullt know how else to put it. You will get what you want from this guitar. There are better guitars, but again, for the price, this is the best guitar Inullve ever played.

  Quality

Great sound, no matter what you want to play. Sounds great with distortion. Sounds just as good clean. Great for playing any style of music. You can even get a half-decent acoustic sound out of it.

  Durability

Inullve dinged it a bit, and therenulls no sound change. Again, the backbow letnulls me question the neck strength, or the durability of the truss rod. You very infrequently have to tune it, unless younullre tuning down to play certain songs or something. I think it should be fine live at gigs, but you could find better guitars suited for live shows (but not at $350).

  Overall

In conclusion, just a great guitar. I chose it because it felt the best of all I tried. Inullve been very happy with it, and have had very few problems with it. Inullm probably going to move up to a Gibson soon, but if younullre a beginner or need a guitar that plays well but isnnullt too expensive, this is for you. It sounds great, especially if you have a good amp. No matter what style you play, you can get the sound you want out of this guitar.

I bought my Les Paul two days ago from "Music Lessons inc." right here in Palatka, FL. I paid $385.00 and Inullll tell you it was totally worth it. Inullve always wanted a Les Paul styled guitar, I love the blues sound it gives, but donnullt be fooled thats not all this bad boy can do.

  Features

Its a very beautiful guitar, mine is creme white with gold "grover" tuning knobs, and gold "Seymour Duncan" humbucker pickups, and it has one volume and one tone knob for each pickup. One thing I like about it is if you look at it closely you can see sparkles through out the paint job, and the black outline on the guitar makes it stand out even more.

  Playability

All I can really say on that is you can play this guitar anywhere. Gigs shouldnnullt be any problem at all, you might have to tune it once or twice a week, unless you drop tune it or what not. I havnnullt had any slip ups on the strings or anything, so that right there tells you its a pretty easy guitar to play.

  Quality

It sounds super mean with a peddle. You can play any style of music from blues, rock, country, jazz, etc... I could sit ontop of my amp wide open and wonnullt give me any feedback at all.

Thanks Guys,
Sean

  Durability

Inullll tell you what, I was at a buddies house yesterday and I took it right out of the case without even checking to see if it was tuned after it was in the hot car all day and I started playing some AC/DCnulls Hells Bells and it sounded so beautiful. Now I heard guitars that have sounded so much better but at $300-$400 more.

Inullm a guitar collector so Inullm going to get another guitar soon better or not, and if I got a guitar half as good Inulld still be in good shape. You know, its just one of those guitars that catch your eye all the time. I have had no problem with this guitar at all and thats why it is EXELLENT!!!

I got it about 3 months ago at nepean music in mornington, Victoria, Australia. I paid $300, wich was great, because it came with great humbucker pick-ups and grover di-cast machine heads, which is the same stuff that you get on the gibsons for around $500 more.

  Features

The guitar is a Les Paul Copy, from the styles that were around in 1960. It has 2 pick-ups, but only one volume and tone control for both pick-ups. It would be better if it had a volume and tone for each pickup, but none the less, still a great guitar.
It has a fantastic Cleans and a really a really mean sound when distortion is switched on.
It also has a treble and rhythm switch, classic 1960nulls, and when you turn the tone to 0, and put it on rhythm, it plays like a bass. When unpluged from an amp, it plays very much like an accustick. It is also a very atractive guitar.
Its black, with creme surrounds, and silver pick-up cases. So the only problems i have with it is the number of tone and volume switches for the pick-ups and that itnulls not really curved on the face, only a little bit. But other than that its a wonderfull guitar , and at a great price.

  Playability

It stands up to a $2000 Gibson Epiphone les Paul with no problems, and all my friends love to play it. It has a slightly smaller neck in width compared to the Gibson, maybe around half a centimetre.

  Quality

its a bit quieter than my friends gibson, this is probly becuse of only one volume and tone switch for two pick-ups. But its great with a lower or higher gauge string, but better with lower, coz it sounds great with lots of bends. Its deffinatly a blues guitar.

  Durability

Its great for live gigs, and when left in the boot of hot cars for a couple of hours, it stays perfectly in tune. i tune it around once a week, and it stays perfectly in tune.

  Overall

This goes way past my expectations of a $300 guitar. I would recemend it to anyone, even profesinals. But if i bought it again, i would get one with two tone and volume switches. But thats it.
