I bought my made in Mexico Standard Strat HH (dual humbuckers) from www.musiciansfriend.com for around $400 in July of 2005. I paid an extra $50 for the sunburst finish; a singletone finish will cost $350.

I have to say, I love my Strat. I used to play the basic Squier that came in the SE-100 starter pack, and the difference in quality is amazing. The neck, plays really fast, and although itnulls small enough that my tiny mitts can handle it, it still handles just fine. The best part about it is the twin Tex-Mex humbuckers that come with it; therenulls almost no buzz, and yet the guitar still has that unmistakable Fender sound. |

Inullve compared mine to various other guitars. My friend has a Gibson Les Paul, and although my Strat admittedly doesnnullt sound as good as his, the difference in price more than makes up for it. OF course, compared to the old Squier, this is in another stratosphere. Get it? STRATosphere? Inullm so clever. Anyway, Inullve said it before, but Inullll say it again: I love the humbuckers on it. They deliver a perfect crunch for songs like "Smoke On The Water", and yet they can handle a Slash solo no problem as well. Honestly, I donnullt know if I can go back to single-coils again after playing this. |

The action on the bottom two strings was a little low out of the box, but a few minutes of playing around with a screwdriver and itnulls perfect for my tastes now. Therenulls really not very much buzz at all on it. With my Fender Frontman 25 watt amp, the overdrive sounds great, and all three pickup selection switches have a distinct sound. The humbuckers perform great in terms of eliminating buzz. |

Being fairly new to playing guitar (a little more than a year of experience), I havennullt tried to gig it yet. I have, however, brought it over to friendsnull houses in a gig bag, and although itnulls not a huge problem, I do have to tune it up once I take it out. Other than that, it stays in tune pretty well; I only have to tune it once a week or so, even after heavy play. The finish hasnnullt shown any signs of peeling or anything, and even though Inullve managed to drop it a couple times onto the body, it still plays perfectly. |

For the price, you absolutely cannullt get a better sound out of a guitar. I wanted a Gibson originally, but Inullm a student, so I cannullt afford the $800+ pricetag on one of those bad boys. Fender is known for quality, so I was scanning the Strat options on the website, when I came across this. The humbuckers are what I wanted originally, and that, combined with the Fender reputation, made me buy it without a second thought. This guitar delivers the sound I want without any problems, and all for a price thatnulls half of what younulld be paying for a Gibson. |
