Review Fender P-Bass Mexico Standard

Review by a visitor on 13.3.2007

$600 new. You cannullt find a better guitar under $800, and even then some.

  Features

Inullm not good at describing the characteristics of basses.... but Inullve tried about 20 guitars now in stores and find nothing plays better than this for under $800 (check out the G&L ____; very growly and has no buzzy spots on it, very nice!). Basic P guitar that has amazing range of sound. Perfect classical rock guitar.

  Playability

Awesome reach. One of the best guitars in the low-mid range.

  Quality

Great sounds. Very basic though.... enough for anyone up to musician level. Probably the best overall guitar design out there.

  Durability

$100 to fix it up like new after 10 years of mostly sitting around. Worthy of anything, this is a fantastic bass, just cheaper for not being American (sounds inferior too, but 1/2 price)

  Overall

The Fender P (American) is the corvette, and the Mexican made is the camaro.

This bass is a 1995 Fender P-Bass made in Mexico. I found it while lookin in pawn shop around the area, for $200! The bass came with a soft shell case, and was in really good condition.

  Features

The bass is Olympic white with white pickguard, just like Hendrixnulls Strat. The bass itself Inullm guessing has had many owners, as paint has been chipped and stuff, but overall that was the only problem with it. The machine heads are Schaller brand, which I think is standard for all Fenders. The pickups are Seymour Duncan 1/4 lb pickups, which are offset in the body cavity. All the wiring is still in good condition, too. Other than the wear and tear on the body, itnulls fine.

  Playability

The P-Bass is everything anyone could ask for in a bass. It gets you any tone, has awesome bottom end tone, its great!

  Quality

The sound quality of the P-Bass is excellent, better than anything else Inullve ever played. I run a distortion through mine, and it still holds its thumping bottom end really well. No noise or feedback.

  Durability

I love this bass! It is the best one I have ever owned, and is the only bass I use to play live. I play punk and emo tunes, and it holds its own for everything. The thing takes a beating every time I play it, and nothing has ever broken on it.

  Overall

I grew up with my dad playing Gibsons and my brother playing Fenders. I owned a Gibson bass, and it sounded like ass, to be honest. So, while a new Fender was pretty expensive and no none was selling any, I went to pawn shops one day and saw this one. I run it through a Fender Bassman Ten for both bottom end and higher frequencies, mic it on 2 speakers, then run that through a Peavey Basic 50 for high end playing. On the other 2 speakers I mic it to a Traynor GB-350 prototype bass amp for bottom end.

Its the best bass ever made, so buy one!
