I bought it cheep, around 250euros, but without tremolo bar handle and one spring in it missing. It was my first guitar, a friend picked it out for me. It has all the features that a modern guitaris has to have available. Itnulls a good choice for a biggener nullcouse, back than, i could see on my own guitar the differences between single-coil and humbacking pickups (although almost patetic sounding..:/), i could see what the tremolo bar is all about and why it is smart to have a good one. This guitar tought me a lot, like what to look when trying searching for a better one. :D

Weak points:
-tuning knobs -licenced floyd rose -attachments for a strap -screws for top lock and floyd rose (imbus)
Strong points:
-the f--- greates neck inullve ever played on (ok, actualy second greatest, after a 2000> euro ibanez), itnulls much better than mexican crapy strats.. -it loooks gooood :D -you can turn this guitar in to very realiable & unique instrument if you know how, it can sound really good and tune nicely -it has decent electronics, my pickup swich is rocking for 8-9 years without any problems (the welds are ok) -volume push-pull died on me but after 6-7 years, taking a lot of abuse, the ton knob is alive and well |

Inullll start with bad things, bugs..
Bad sides: -it has really bad tuning knobs, -pickups are trash (in my case the exception sould be the wonderful middle pickup that has a really good sound) -the output jacks like to fall out, same goes for strap attachmants, -it always goes out of tune, you always have to tune the guitar no matter if your using the top lock or not. -licenced floyd rose is crap. -volume push-pull pot died on me after 6-7 years of using it heavily, come to think of it this is actualy a good side, considering how long it lasted.. :) -top lock and floyd rose screws are crap (they get eaten fast and than you cannullt unscrew them, just buy a set of new, good ones for 5$ and be happy)
Good sides: -the best neck, great for practiceing (you can play the whole neck 24 frets! and practice everything) -if you make this guitar tune with a few repaires and sound with new pickups younullll be attachet to it forever ;) |

Like i said before bad/good. Out of the store itnulls poor but with a few adjusments it worth to try, younullll get a good instrument for your money. |

Without any adjusments (new pickups, new tuning knobs) do not attemt to use it for a gig unless you have a few more tuned guitars!!! :P
Maitenance: -younullll need all new screws (imbus) for top lock and floyd rose. |

Now for a bigginer the best, cheapest guitar, inulld recommend would be Yamaha Pacifica or this Slammer. Inullll compare these two.
Slammer has a better, even vaxed pickups, has all the features of a modern guitar: -top lock -floyd rose -single & humbacking pickups (with push-pull switch you have 4 sounding options) -a fantastic, tin, rosewood neck with 24 frets
Pacifica has: -single & humbacking pickups, not vaxed with a lot of microphonia interference if stanting close to an amp. -nice, tin, neck but with 18 (16 playable) frets -great tuning knobs
Now if your playing ambitions low-to-mid Pacifica is the thing for you. If you wanna learn to play the instrument to your best Slammer is a good guitar to start but you would have to consider buying over time: -new tuning knobs -new top lock with imbus screws -at least new screws for licenced floyd rose and after thoese 3 things it can be used for all thoese Vai, Satriani tricks without worry about tuning (i bought a new floyd rose, the original one :D) -new pickups (i bought one by one seymour duncan...)-->screaming deamon humbacker sounds wooow (in my case push-pull volumen knob needed a replacement also after some heavy duty..)
Slammernulls maple wood with new pickups has a lot better sound that the light-wooded Pacifica with the same ones..
I just love this guitar and itnulls sound, i wouldnnullt give it up for anything other... :) Itnulls good for experimenting and learning,.. bet you wouldnnullt do that with a more expencive guitar (and would miss learning a lot about your instrument..).. |

Like another reviewer, I also bought my Slammer from a Buy/Sell/Trade flea market kind of store. Actually, I traded a Takamine 12 string and a hundred bucks for the guitar and a cheap amp. Now, Inullm not saying Inulld do it again, nullcause Inullve come to realize I probably couldnullve gotten a low level fender/amp combo somewhere for another hundred or so and been way ahead. But that 12 stringnulls bridge was about to pop off and it had a weird discoloration in the maple that looked like some sort of fungus, so I donnullt suppose I got too badly screwed, either. Inullve also had the dumb thing for about 5 years, and I just piddle around on it (I play mainly accoustic) so I guess Inullve gotten my moneynulls worth. Still, nulltaint much of a guitar really.

Strong points? Well...itnulls pretty. I went for the red metallic finish, which really makes the think look like a much more expensive guitar. The electronics and controls are okay, I guess. The knobs are kinda cheap but the pots work smoothly enough and actually seem to control the volume and tone. But I had a lower level Fender short-scale bass some years ago that was miles ahead in that department. Mine has two single pickups and a humbucker near the bridge, a combo Inullm not sure Hamer still offers--at least not on this Strat copy--but they can be dialed in to give this thing a real fat sound. But it can really make some wierd noise, too, and have to agree with another reviewer that itnulls tough to make it sound like a plain old electric guitar. Tough, but not impossible. Nevertheless, I donnullt think it would be the best choice for a beginning guitarist. They have enough to worry about without fiddling with knobs every other chord. The neck is the probably the best part of the guitar, smooth and easy. Frets are okay, Inullve had to pound some of nullem back in the grooves. The tuning machines are cheap--and may be the source of most of the Slammernulls problems. |

See above. But the neck is nice, and with light or x-lights you can really travel around on it. My regular ax is a Guild accoustic with mediums, so playing this thing is like taking a hand vacation. You do have to tune it all the time. I think some better tuning machines would make a big difference, but who wants to put $50 more bucks into a Slammer? |

With some fiddling around, I can make this particular Slammer sound pretty nice, especially if I run it through a better amp. The single\single\humbucker pickup combo on mine can really give me a range of interesting--though sometimes unpleasant--qualities. But then, Hamer does say you can make it sound "clean or downright nasty". Truth in advertising, eh? |

Like I said, Inullve had it for five years or so, and Inullve bashed it around a bit, but it still looks great and functions as well as it ever did. The scale is very picky, if it isnnullt perfectly in tune it sounds bad all over the neck. I had a dude adjust the bridge--which is fully adjustable by the way--and that helped, but not much. Steady? Not in the least. This is a real play and tune...and play and tune...and play and tune... |

You know, itnulls weird. I wanted to write this review to maybe save a beginner a trip to this particular land of woe. Younulld be much better off seeking out another starter guitar package--presumably Hamernulls target consumer. But... I still like my Slammer. Kinda love it, hate it, actually. Would I trade it? Whonulld want it? Look on ebay for an indication of resale value. All I can say is that Inulld miss the stupid, weird-sounding, picky-tuning, hot-looking rebellious little red metallic thing if it was gone. |

It is very light weight, but their are MANY bad things about this guitar. For one thing Inullve never heard a guitar sound like this one. Has NO good sounds. Nothing at all. But they do have very nice colors like black with metalic chips. Itnulls really just a show guitar. |

I think its defintilly not the greatest guitar and i doesnnullt live up to my expectations. I would chose a Fender Cyclone probally. But i still have love for my Hamer! LOL |
