Guitar Center 10/2007 $699
Bought it because I hadnnullt had a new bass in 15 years.

  Features

This is just a basic, growling bass guitar. Tones are nice. Not a lot of extras but who needs nullem.

  Playability

Thin neck makes this a winner. I have smaller hands and I feel I can really tame this beast. Never thought Inulld feel this way about a Fender.

  Quality

Tone, tone, tone. After years of playing I never thought I could get the tones I get with this Bass, especially through my Ampeg SVT3 Pro head and 4x10 cabinet - SWEET!
Quality of this bass is top notch. Good going Fender-Japan.
I used to play an Ibanez SGR and it was boom, boom, boom. Never could get a tone I really liked.

  Durability

So far so good. Just starting to really use it as much as possible.

  Overall

Love it! Got interested in it because itnulls Geddynulls offical bass. Who wouldnnullt want to be able to have the feel and get the sound that Ged does. Best purchase I ever made.

I BOUGHT THIS BASS AT GUITAR CENTER IN 04. I PAID 649.00 FOR IT. I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE IM A HUGE RUSH FAN AND GEDDY LEE HAS BEEN MY "MENTOR" SINCE 1980!

  Features

THE BASS PLAYS REALLY WELL. THE NECK IS VERY THIN NEAR THE HEAD AND IT ENABLES ME TO REALLY PLAY VERY FAST. THE TONES ARE GREAT AND THE BOTTOM SOUNDS VERY FULL AND RICH. ITS JUST A REALLY NICE BASS AND WORTH EVERY PENNY..

  Playability

I WAS REALLY SURPRISED WITH IT AND I THINK IT IS DEFINITELY A TOP CONTENDER. I LOVE THE NECK AND I GET THE EXACT SOUNDS I WANT FROM THE STOCK PICKUPS.

  Quality

SOUND QUALITY IS GREAT. THAT IS WHAT GOT ME HOOKED.

  Durability

WELL.. I JUST SENT IT OUT TO HAVE THE NECK AND INTONATION DONE.. IT HAS GONE OUT A FEW TIMES IN THE LAST FEW YEARS WITHOUT MUCH PLAYING. I HAVE 6 BASES AND I USE MY STEINBERGER MOST OF THE TIME JUST OUT OF HABIT. I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF ITS ROAD WORTHY AS I WILL START PLAYING OUT WITH MY BAND VERY SOON. I JUST BOUGHT A HARD SHELL CASE FOR IT AS IM NOT BIG ON GIG BAGS.

  Overall

I CHOSE IT BECAUSE OF GEDDY LEES ENDORSEMENT. IT LIVES UP TO MY EXPECTATIONS AND IM VERY HAPPY WITH IT..

I bought this Bass Guitar in Cornwall ont canada .I paid $900 .I bought this bass The Geddy Lee model because of the neck an feel ,Before i bought this i had an Amercian 2001 series Jazz Bass .I tried this bass several times before i bought it .This is a real players instrument .

  Features

The Geddy Lee Bass Has a unique neck profile very slim an thinner neck then any U.S.A model .It has vintage 62 reissue pickups an a very unique badass bridge .This Bass is meant to be played from the first time i played one i was very surprised on the feel an sound an of this Japan made Bass .I sold my 2001 Amercian series Jazz bass to get this Bass .The Geddy Lee Bass has old school tone an the neck is what makes this bass unique .The only feature i think this bass lacked it should be sold with a a case not a gig bag .

  Playability

This bass is a player ,The Neck is silky smooth .AN the vintage pickups an badass bridge make it a tone monster ,Ive had an used Ernie ball sterling basses, Amercian standard, an Amercian series Jazz basses,I kept going an trying the Geddy Lee bass after 9 months i got one .

  Quality

The quaility seems reaily Good .I cant knock this Japan made bass ,The workmanship an fitting is just as good if not better then my previous Amercian jazz basses .I use an ampeg svt vr with this bass an its old school tone all the way .This Bass is grounded well there is some noise off the vintage series pickups at extreme volumes .With a 300 watt tube amp this isn,t a real issue though .The neck reaily seperates this bass from other basses

  Durability

The Bass feels very reliable , Ive read reports of problems with the vintage tuning keys .I am a very hard player an havent noticed any problems with the tuning keys .I should add i kept my amercian series hardshell case in stead of going with the Geddy Lee GiG BAG ,

  Overall

I came across this bass when i was amp shopping an i wanted a Jazz bass to try out .An was handed the GEDDY lee model to use .I instantly noticed the thinner neck an was always comparing it after to my Amercian series Jazz Bass .The Geddy Lee is visually apealing an sounds vintage .An i believe would rival any Vintage Fender Bass in the tone department .I was skeptical about using a signature model ,An a Japan made bass .Ive tried 3 differnt Geddy Lee basses they all felt consitent .I took a chance an i believe ive made the right choice .There will always be higher price basses ,with more features .The Geddy Lee is a working mans bass ,Simple an delivers night after night .I use to think nothing came close to U.S.A instruments .I was wrong The Geddy Lee made me a believer .

I got this bass for my birthday in September of last year. I know my parents ordered it off a website which sent alot of free stuff with it. My dad took me to guitar center one day and told me to play the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and then play the Fender Jazz bass. The Geddy Lee blew my mind. It was incredible. Since then, i wanted that bass.

  Features

The neck is incredable. Its one of those things you need to play to know what Inullm talking about. The Badass Bridge has a great look. The only thing that actually bothers me about this bass is the black body coloring really shows smudges and stuff, but it is cleanable. The neck is very light while the body is pretty heavy so you better have tough shoulders if you are gong to play it for a few hours standing up.

  Playability

It is the BEST bass i have ever played. Easy for fast playing, shifting is so much easier, and its sounds great at the same time. Again, I advise to play this bass to know what Inullm talking about.

  Quality

This bass has that Rush sound to it. Or you can make it sound any other way and it sounds great. Inullve played it on many different amps and it still sounds great. If you have the tone a certain way, it makes a buzzing noise if you arent touching the strings or chord. That problem is easily fixable if you have a ground lift on your amp.

  Durability

VERY RELIABLE!!!!!!it stays in tune even though it gets a beating. I carry mine to school and back each day and it gets hit around and it is almost exactly in tune. If you buy it new, change the strings. I broke every string that came with it so far and i dont use a pick. The new strings have not broken yet.

  Overall

You cannullt pass this bass. It compares to Rickenbacker basses but it costs less. I still have yet to play a better bass. Ever since I played it, I wanted it. Great sound, easy play, and great look are all why I wanted this bass. Go to your local music store and play this bass. I guarantee you will like it.

music Stop $980, march 2005. I bought it after trying out like 15 basses.

  Features

Its a basic bass as far as features go, with the exception of the tone ranges that are impressive( which match its more expensive fender brothers)

  Playability

this is where this bass ROCKS.... play one younullll see i love mine

  Quality

like i said awesome range plays great, lite and love that jazz neck.... pick ups are the same as the fender standerd from early 90nulls

  Durability

Its took a beating so far.... The neck is more sensitive than the thicker p bass or my gibson thunderbird because it has a thinner neck.... I would play with it in the snow... but it dosennullt lose tune in quick temp changes

  Overall

If you play younullll like it . I play metal, rock, and classic country... great for all...Anyone wanna buy a thunderbird?

Bought this bass from speed music. Being a rush fan i thought ide give it a try in the shop and go away and have a think on it, i ended up paying for it , about 730 pounds and havent put it down its AWESOME .

  Features

Its very well built with double trust rods going through the neck and has the two controls for the usa single coil picks and a volume control .As of yet its early days but i cant honestly see any flaws in this beautifull bass.

  Playability

Compared to other basses , well it doesnt. Ive had about ten different basses over the years and its the best by far...

  Quality

Plenty of mid and bottom end give this bass a unique sound. i really cant say anything bad about it.

  Durability

Up to now the tuneing holds up fine , but after reading earlier reviews i may change the tuneing pegs.

  Overall

Ide never part with this , ide rather sell my soul to satan.

GO BUY ONE ITS AWESOME.

Music123, June 2002, US$630.

  Features

Visually very striking, black body only, maple neck with black block inlays.
White pickguard. All of this makes for a very striking effect, emulating a mid-70s Jazz.
Great playability, due to light weight, generous cutaways, very slim gloss finish neck.
USA electronics- pickups, pots and a Leo Quan Badass II bridge- a bit unbalanced, vusually, but it adds to the sustain. This bridge is too large for a Fender "F" logo bridge cover.
Straplocks not fitted and case not supplied.
Made in Japan, so itnulls consistently good.Standard of finish far superior to that of USA-made Fenders, no question about it.
Has to be the best value by far of all Fendernulls Fender-logo basses.
This bass has it all (I use it for jazz and rock).
Outstanding!

  Playability

Itnulls very playable, see above, performs very well and is up there with the best of the much more expensive USA product.......

  Quality

Like any good Jazz, rolling back a pickup volume will give you the old single-coil hum, this being particularly dependent on adjacent lighting.

Tone -wise, this bass is indeed very good, with good controls with consistent nullsweepnull.

  Durability

Very reliable- no neckshift, good electronics. Inullve never had to adjust it.
Narrow, shallow neck is actually quite robust.

Tuners, however, are so-so and prone to slippage. I replaced mine.

There would be no need to bring a backup bass to the gig.

  Overall

Inullm very happy with this one. I own about twenty basses, from excellent early 80s JV-series Squiers to a USA Precision Deluxe.

I chose it for its looks- I find myself playing this one more and more because of its combination of sound, looks, weight, playability and nullwownull factor.
It really IS an excellent bass, and I wouldnnullt ever sell it unless I was really hard-up.

I very highly recommend the Fender Japan Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. Itnulls one of the very finest passive basses you can buy, and it retails at a very reasonable price.

1/28/05 Guitar Center $650

  Features

I was in for some proaudio gear and was quite happy with my warwick- I saw this bass and it looked awesome (only one in the store). I donnullt know why but when I saw Geddy Lee on the tag I was like haha a signature model so I picked it up. The second my hand hit the neck I was like wow. I then had to plug it in and play Around the World from Red Hot Chili Peppers.. It was effortless!!!!!
The sound through a GK1001RB2 Head and AMPEG PR410 - AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
I still love the warwick for recording. But I know what is going to my shows from now on. I give Excellent for features for WHAT it is supposed to BE. SIMPLE AND OLD SKEWL.

  Playability

INCREDIBLE! GO PLAY ONE!! IT IS AWESOME!!!!

  Quality

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

  Durability

Cant say just got it but looks solid enough for me.. I dont abuse my instruments I play them. I wouldnt think twice about hitting someone with my Warwick- it is fucking SOLID! ... this is not.

  Overall

I love this bass....
You should try one! F*** the ratings and reviews. TRY yourself

Bought it from Musiciannulls Friend for $630

  Features

This bass gwowls like Geddynulls Actual bass does. It has Vintage Style Pickups that sound like theyre vintage. The neck is shaved too, so the back of it, instead of being shpaed like a C, itnulls shaped mroe like this: ( therefore being thinner, and faster. It has a double rod truss, much like rickenbackers do, becuase fender truss rods pretty much suck, theyre one pole, and with the way they work, after so many times tightening n loosening them, becuase of humidity n tension, they warp, and the neck becomes "S" shaped. This one wonnullt do that. IT also has the hard-to-find block inlays. And it has a Leo-Quann Badass II Brigde standars, giving it so much sustain, I timed it one time, to see how long the note would last, and it rang for well over a minute.

  Playability

I have a squier standard Jazz bass and i can barely play it now, beucase the neck seems too fat, its not as fast as my Geddy, the Geddy has incredible sustain, and a smooth, shaved neck for easier playability, plsu its got the fender curved on it, so its comfortable.

  Quality

It sounds great, plays great, itnulls over all the best quality bass I have ever played. I do have to take points off for the tuners though. they suck. Theyre Fender vintage tuning machines, and when downtuning, they are really loose, and it goes down at least half a step when barely tuning it down at all, I belive Inullm gonna be changing these soon.

  Durability

Its very durable, you would thing with the shaved neck it wouldnt be as durable, but i disagree, becuase once again, it has a double rod truss in it, making it stronger. Its definitely gig worthy, it has the look, and it has the sound.

  Overall

This is the best bass I have ever played. Inullve played some 1500-2000 dollar basses before too, and none compare to this. Itnulls a great deal at 630 dollars, and it has a growl thats hard to find. And its got the Rickenbacker style truss rod, and a badass bridge
