Review Fender Deluxe Stratocaster "V-Neck"

Review by a visitor on 14.5.2008

I bought this guitar from Long & McQuade, during January 2008. I paid about 1300 bucks for it and I bought it because it has an amazing wood grain and a neck you can really dig into. I was surprised at how well it felt and handled at high distortion, because usually I am a Gibson SG man and I like the fast slick neck they have. A very large contrast to what a V-Neck feels like. Also, Maple necks have amazing "snap".

  Features

Strong Points are that it has rich full sound due to itnulls Alder body. If younullre like me and hate scuffs on your guitar strats donnullt show scars as much as Gibsonnulls do. Not only that but it never goes out of tune because it has locking tuning machines. That also means you donnullt have to string wrap to get the sustain you want. The 2 screw tremelo system is amazing in ever sense of the word, meaning you can dive bomb the whammy and stay in perfect tune (If set up right).

Weak Points are that itnulls not fancy. No gimmicks, no fancy paint. Itnulls a strat, meant to be played. Also, it has a s-1 switch, and I have no idea what it does or how fancy the wiring is. It makes a slight difference in sound, but itnulls really the only my paranoia of something malfunctioning.

  Playability

Excellent for my type of music. Funky Blues with a Rock sound. I wouldnnullt recommend it for a metal head, because itnulls neck isnnullt as fast as one of my SGnulls or LPnulls. The single coil pick ups arennullt popular with the metal anyways. So Inulld skip it if I were a shredder.

  Quality

100% nothing wrong with it, Inulld like to more details and design in the guitar, but itnulls a guitarists guitar. I cannullt complain. i doesnnullt look like a Ibanez Jem, thatnulls for sure.

  Durability

Strats are mean to last. You donnullt have to worry about the neck because, well, if it did crack, you can easily replace it due to bolt on. Contrary to what I believed since playing Gibsonnulls, it still has a lot of sustain for a bolt on. The body is thick and solid, and since the V-Neck is a little more woody, the neck feels extremely strong.

  Overall

But it if you have the cash. Younulld be surprised how nice the V-Neck feels when just DIGGINnull into the b****. One of my favorite guitars now. Thatnulls coming from a Gibson man too.
