the whanny sucked after maybe 15 minues i'd have to tune it again and allways have to tighten the bridge the open face pegs took time getting use to. its not a lead guitar but ive allways loved rhythem and its perfect for a fat dist power chord or a deep punchy chug-a-lug on clean with a good tube amp it stayed tuned in lower scales fairly wellalso. on a 1-10 i'd score it a 7 |

When i bought this guitar and played it for the first time. i was blown away... The fender Twang of the single coil at the neck is unbelievable and the ass kickin sustain and volume of the atomic humbucker at the bridge is ridiculous. One of the strong points of this guitar is it's comfort. The fender stratocaster has made the test of time by its tone and comfort. the guitar plays like a strat but with a different unique look. The down point of this guitar is the intonation...as with all fenders because of a bolt on neck the intonation has to be frequently adjusted. but if you;re like me and you play raw rockin roll with careless country solo;'s this doenst matter that much to you. |

This guitar plays like a strat but looks cooler. so very comfortable..a little rough... not smooth. thats a typical fender for ya. the only smooth guitars are gibsons and PRS. so if you like fender's you'll love this |

This is a great quality guitar for the money...inexpensive and efficient... the sound quality is awesome... it has a genuine tele sound with the noisy/twangy single coil and a noiseless humbucker that really kicks up the volume and gain. The sound of this guitar is perfect for someone who doesnt like distortion pedals. i play this through an original peavey 5150 and i never switch channels. i play a little on the pre amp gain on the clean channel and when i want to kick in an extra overdrive boost i just toggle switch over to the humbucker for solos. |

The Fender Cyclone has been nothing but reliable to me. I bought this guitar when they introduced them in the late 90's and i've been playing out and touring since. this is THE ONLY GUITAR i've used. i've never had any electronic difficulties or malfunctions. Just the intonation isssues. only bad thing |

I biught my fender cyclone at Music World in Thunder Bay ON, CAN. i bought it in 2000. And I paid $800 without taxes. The reason i bought this guitar is because i am a fan of Fenders jag and mustang body, it appeals to me every time i look at it. and I'm too picky when it comes to guitars but I don;t want to be one of those pple who says " yeah its worth a lot, you know i paid 2 G's for it" The cyclone is great, it offers a slender body style and a great feel on the nick.

Of course I took out the pickups, I replaced them with an EMG 85 humbucker for my rythm action and a single hot rail for low end sustain, I must say it sounds BAD ASS!, to boost its value i picked up a prescence control for it for only $30 THat knob packs in a hell amount of gain which is just what every one needs haha The only reason i put in these pick ups is because I like a heavy squealing feedback grunge sound, otherwise the cyclone is good to go !. Also the tuneing heads are dirt cheap, but after 5yrs of tuning it I finnaly had to replace them after the broke, I gave it some real good tuning heads though cuz its my Baby. |

I can say that I'm now a fender fan after owning a cyclone. I prefer it over other high end guitars. why? Because the cyclone plays perfect for me and I absolutely love it. |

GOd Damn it generates noise, of course i had to rip it apart. This guitar is cheap and i'm not gunna lie but this guitar defines exactly who i am. Now that its rigged up with new goods I'd say it sounds better than any guitar you would play in a music shop. For paying $800 for it and then later on i put new pickups with a total of $250 and tuning heads $100, and a sustain control $30. Its now a $1180 |

This guitar will last a long time, the neck is solid! no compliants when it comes to durability. The bridge that it comes with is meant for a whamy bar but i took that thing right off, I stuck an extra spring in the back to hold the bridge down and I have never had any problems with it. Oh the knobs for tune and volume came off cuz the srews to hold them on were stripped so I had to replace them :( but i like the colour of the black and white knobs though. |

I played it at a guitar shop in Farmville, VA. It wasn't "Axis Music" though. It was a larger one that was a major Dean dealer but had a few fenders in there. It was set for around 279, i think. I am not exactly sure, it wasn't overly expensive though.

Specs from www.fenderguitars.com:
Stripped-down lean and mean, our Cyclone guitar has it all in one compact package. Souped up with our super-hot Tex-Mex? Strat single-coil slanted pickup at the neck and our special-design Atomic humbucking pickup at the bridge, the Cyclone really blows the house down. Features include an alder body, C-shaped maple neck with 9.5?-radius rosewood fingerboard, chrome hardware, Fender/Ping? vintage-style tuning machines and a vintage-style synchronized tremolo.
It had really nice feel, it was an excellent guitar. Absolutely amazing sustain, it never stopped going. It just went on and on forever. Amazing hybrid style guitar. |

This guitar without a doubt is one of the best guitars i have played for the price. There are many other guitars out there that are probably much better. This guitar though is perfect for anybody that is beginner-advanced players. It played really well, even against an American Tele, American Strat, and Mexican Tele. I really liked this guitar, i hadn't heard of it until i saw it. |

This thing is more then amazing in tone. It is great for rock, jazz, metal, anything that you can think of. It does seem to generate just a little bit of noise but that isnt anything a noise supressor cant fix. It has a great price, great feel, and amazing sustaine. It is not a heavy body at all, it will set comfortably on your shoulders while you play in a gig, or just sitting at home. |

Excellent guitar. One of the finest i have used in my life. I would very highly consider buying this guitar. The only thing I didnt like about it was its shape, the shape wasn't appealing to me. But hey, tone is what counts. Its a definite buy for anybody who wants to play a real great guitar. |

I bought it from Soundcontrol in Glasgow for ?485 (UK pounds) I was shopping for a backup guitar for my Gibson SG which was out of action. I initially tried out a Schecter PT style guitar and the bass player in my band encouraged me to try out some of the cool offset bodied fenders. I tried a Jazzmaster and a mustang but at the time I was more into humbuckers so I tried the Cyclone. The Jazzmaster was a bit pricier too.

This is basically like a modified and hot-rodded mustang- similar body shape, but with larger jazzmaster style headstock and strat style trem. It is also made of alder wood as opposed to basswood and lacks the switches found on the Mustang. This is a great guitar for many styles. Extremely versatile. I love the atomic humbucker at the bridge. I believe this is actually a US pickup. It sounds great through overdrive and distortion and can cut it from anything from Blues to Metal. The Tex Mex single coil at the neck is far more suited to clean styles but you can get very cool out of phase sounds with the pickup selector set to middle. I quite enjoy the single coil with some distortion on it too! Gives a really dirty abrasive trebly sound. It is kept very simple which probably swayed me in favour of this over Jaguar type guitars. |

I'm saying excellent for this because the shorter scale neck and lower string tension allows you to really bend your notes and the neck allows for very fast soloing. My only complaint has been a bit of buzz when the guitar is unplugged and played with medium force. but I think this is a common problem with short scale fenders. It was driving me up the wall until I realised it really wasnt coming through the amp.
The lower string tension allows for the strings to vibrate more. (I use E flat tuning as well thus reducing the tension further) Through the amp the buzz can not be heard. Heavier string gauge will minimise it more but could reduce the ease of playabilty... I had 11-52s on it but found it way better to play with 10-46s.
I have customised it slightly with a graphite nut. I find it holds the tuning better with this. You will find yourself switching from single coil to humbucker and enjoying the tones you can produce.
In order for the guitar to keep its tuning its best to spend a while after restringing stretching the strings. I found I had to do this a bit more with this guitar than others Iv owned but once the strings have been stretched properly it stays in tune very well. I don't use the whammy bar- I actually blocked it as I mess about with different tunings.

I am saying excellent for a Mexican Fender. IMHO it surpasses the Japanese reissue Jaguars. Its got that cool offset body with a great humbucker and decent bridge which means you don't really have to customise as with Jazzmasters or Jaguars. Theres a nice strat style bridge instead of the awkward bridges found on those other two models. The finish on it is on par with the American Standard Fenders. Basically from experience I don't think you can really beat a good USA built Fender but the Cyclone is a cracking guitar with a personality of its own and its not really miles of in terms of quality and playability. Iv put good instead of excellent as I would give "excellent "to the US Series Fenders. For an under ?500 guitar it is excellent though! It looks fantastic as well- mine is in the candy apple/Chrome red finish with a white pearloid pickguard. The humbucker is a zebrastripe one as well which adds to this guitars character. (not sure about cyclones you get in yellow though- what a weird colour choice for a guitar!)

I have had truss rod adjusted a few times, especially when using heavier strings. The problem had actually been the bridge though as the strings had worn into the saddles slightly. My suggestion is if using 11s or higher get harder saddles! It is built like a tank. Because of this I sold my gibson sg which had suffered acracks in the neck.

Overall a great guitar. Its not perfect by any means but its a damn good instrument you are getting for the money and don't let the Made in Mexico tag put you off. Its easily far better than a mexican strat.
I am considering buying a USA fender (probably a Telecaster) as Ive played these and the quality is quite astounding but this guitar is great and I don't think Il ever part with it! An amazing 21st birthday (Half paid with student loan) present!

the pickups are goood. there is a tex-mex pickup on the neck and an atomic humbucker at the bridge. some good features are the pickups and the individual saddles in the bridge. One thing i'd like to see on the guitar is a input switch that goes in slanted like the strat. the vibrato arm cant move around to well with the cord in the way. |
