Review by a visitor on 14.6.2005

I bought it at a local music store about a month ago, now, this is an expensive pedal costing me 190 pounds, so my expectations were extreamly high for this product. Inulld heard about it at school from a friend, and I went on the interweb in search of this product. Wow, even the picture looked sweet, I knew that I had to have this effect...

  Features

Itnulls a complex little thing, basically itnulls a pedal consisting of 6 knobs and an expression pedal which doubles as a wah. When the expression pedal is pushed forward and pressed a green light comes on, this is the first effect of 1 of the 7 models. When the pedal is pushed backwards and clicked a red light comes on, this is the second effect of 1 of the 7 models. When the pedal is clicked back for the send time a yellow light comes on, this is the third effect which is only on models 5 and 6.

Model 1 = Purple Haze
Model 2 = Wind Cries Mary
Model 3 = Foxey Lady
Model 4 = Little Wing
Model 5 = All Along The Watchtower
Model 6 = Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Model 7 = Machine Gun, Star Spangled Banner (live)

Obviously this has some very unique stuff including the legendary Univibe effect on model 7, also all the effects are pretty much exact (when used with a good amp) to the studio recording of Jiminulls songs, the classic Vox Wah is even used on the green light of model 6 for VooDoo Child (Slight Return). This also has seperate controls including nullControlnull nullGainnull nullTone, bottom and highnull nulllevelnull and nullreverbnull, the last knob is where you select the desired model.

I could seriously go on for ages about the technical side of this pedal but honestly, Inullm buying time as it is...

  Playability

Like I said you can reach the desired results with the item although with an amazing amount of tweaking and adjusting, even changing the models requires bending down and turning knobs. Compared to others itnulls in a league of itnulls own, on numerous times Inullve tried to re-create his sound, but thatnulls nearly impossible considering most of the effects he used back then are now classed as nullantiquenull.

But, for the constant adjusting of the knobs this puts the score down a little, I can understand that a lot of adjusting has to be done but, my back hurts.

  Quality

The sound quality is amazing, like I said I cannullt believe how accurate this thing is. The effects are endless, the null3 lightnull function is very intelligent. This is best described as when younullre playing a song, lets take nullAll Along The Watchtowernull green light is the intro and verses, red light are the solos and teh yellow light is the wah bit a t the end. All in one pedal at the tounch of a foot? Yes. Foot.

Now, it does generate some noise, but, I realised that when watching Woodstock 69null when Jimi played, his sound is so electric and magnetic, so by playing with this extra noise is like playing with another pedal such as the Boss OS-2 whereby it gives you taht little bit extra umph.

  Durability

Well, clearly because of the extream extent of the pedal and the amount of different sounds that you can produce it requires constant adjusting, itnulls very reliable though. It takes a few days to get used to it, itnulls a very complex pedal as Inullve said and you almost have to learn how to use it properly, otherwise it sounds not too good. For example the heavy magnetic feeback given at the start of nullFoxey Ladynull needs to be controlled with volume on your guitar and tweaking of knobs etc... but if you get it right, itnullll blow you away.

For 190 pounds itnulls very reliable for live gigs.

  Overall

Overall this product is well worth the hefty price that it comes with, and I do like this idea of the signature pedal from Digitech, I believe that therenulls also an Eric Clapton one too. I chose this one because I love Jimi and his music, so it only seemed right for me to invest in this product.

If you are thinking about buying this pedal, please do so you wonnullt be dissappointed. I know that you have to be critical when rating priducts but I found it hard to do so, I know people will have different opinions but when played correctly with a GOOD amplifier itnulls the best.

I do not think that this product should be bought by beginners, it sounds good when used well and inexperience could result in dissappointment.
