Review DigiTech Hot Head

Review by sumfan82 on 3.1.2006

I got this pedal at Guitar Center i paid 40$ for it alone but with a cable it
cost 51$ i originally wasnt planing on buying this pedal i was looking at the Grunge but they were sold out, so as i was testing the Hot Head out it seemed perfect for what i play classic rock and metal all that good stuff

  Features

It has a level, low, high and gain which are all i really need, it can either run on a 9v battery or a plug in thing i dont know what it called so u can play out of the main power source, comes with a digitech pamphlet on how to use it and another one with all other of their pedals and it shows adjustments on how to get some tones, very convenient

  Playability

awesome i would pick it to be more excellent if there was a choice, i caould make my shitty 15w Crate sound like a Marshall full stack with this pedal it give my amp a nice crisp distorted tone that sounds perfect for playing classic rock, it is very versatile i could go from playing Jhonny b Goode, to Mr Crowley, to Master of Puppets, compared to my friends Digitech Death Metal pedal i would chose this one for solos it gives you a nice lead and crunchy tone that sounds like Randy Rhodes(if u set the pedal up right)im in love with my pedal

  Quality

it is very good, as far as feedback which it does get but very little, it is was more controled compared to the Digitech Detahmetal pedal that thing gets a shit load of feedback, im saying this a lot of times but i cant get enough of the crips crunchy tone it gives when you turn up the gain, nice controls to give a variety of tones

  Durability

ummm im goin to rate the durability at excellent because it is a nice metal frame rubber on the bottom so it wont slip and i would chose this to play at a gig

  Overall

in my opinion compared to the Grunge and Death Metal pedals i would chose this one by far, if this one was trashed, blown out(somehow),stolen, run over, bombed, i would definately go out and buy this one again, i got this pedal out of an accident and im glad i got it
