Review Boss MT-2 Distortion

Review by DuShock on 22.2.2005

I bought it off of Musicians friend for pretty cheap, 90 dollars. A great price for the pedal, considering most places it was atleast 165 bucks.

  Features

It has five knobs to master and create your favorite sound. It works pretty good, a great first distortion as it can make lots of different sounds and it is fun to mess with.

  Playability

I have spent countless hours already messing with the knobs and trying out differents sounds and levels of distortion. I have yet to see any distorion that works as well and is as fun to mess around with than this one.

  Quality

The sound is great for metal and hard rock but if you are more into classic rock or into alternative go for something else because this is a low-end monsters. The treble can be pretty harsh sometimes but tweek it for awhile and it will calm down. And if you crank up the level and distortion you will get a fuzz and hiss from your amp but you cant hear it when you play and a simple gate will fix it.

  Durability

It has never failed me yet. It used batteries pretty fast but with the adapter it is no problem. I was horrified when I dropped my old distortion pedal on it but when i picked it up the MT-2 left a dent in the old one and it didnt have a scratch.

  Overall

Good distortion for many diffrent types of genres of music, though if you want a fuzz or overdrive pedal buy one for that because the MT-2 can sound like an overdrive but not nearly as good as a real overdrive.
