Okay, so I got Soooo tired of pedal boards full of stomp boxes, which would eventaully and perpetually have one effect in the chain fail and the rest be adversely affected. I had tried some multi effects years ago and although they were fine in a recording situation, they sucked live... they would thin out my sound and make all my guitars sound like crap. I choose my guitars for different gigs and sounds that I need: 2 PRS, 2 TELES, 4 STRATS AND A PARKER, (Inullm showing off a little, but you can see that I am fairly discerning in anyonesnull book). The amps I use are all class A tube, with varying wattage for different venues and recording situations. Everything from a 1970 Champ amp, Blues Deluxe, Blues Deville to a 197? Twin. I am not interested in modeling any other amps... Inullm an old school, class A tube player and I have all of the amps I want/need. The ME50 claims itnulls for the player who LOVES the sound of their amp... HEY!!! thatnulls me!

The unit is sturdy enough, at least the chassis is... lots of variety, although I use 6 settings at most and some times only 3 in a show. The effects are great and the parameters are tweakable in more ways than I have time to worry about. There are some killer patches right outta the box and YES it also records well. The wah-wah is a keeper and when I play funk itnulls important to me. I use it in tandem w/ OD or Distortion to add to solos as well. This unit has a lot of features, some that are so strange, Inullm not sure wtf they would be used for. You CANNOT see the tuner if you are on an outdoor stage in the sunlight.... no big deal, I remember how to tune to the keyboard, but I thought Inulld mention it. |

There is a very slight pause when you switch patches... not terrible, but again, I thought I would mention it. The volume pedal works great. Fantastic for volume swells! The three switches are close together and if you hit two at once, there is a penalty... it goes to tuner mode, which is not always the desiresd effect when your spotlight comes on to solo!

Well, herenulls where the problem lies. The unit has become a bit tempermental when I am playing in a cleam mode, with any of the modulation effects. Under any any sequence that involves more aggresive, harder picking; there is an extremely distortion added by the unit and this happens once in a while when you change your attck. I did 50 or 60 shows with it, before the problem began. HERE is where I would swap out one of my pedals, if it were NOT a multi effects processsor. I have NOT dropped the unit, nor have I jumped on it, or otherwise subjected it to anything out of the ordinary. |

Got it at a local music store called Music Unlimited for $350 and it was worth every penny. I bought it because it was half recommended by the store and I was lookin for something like the ME-50. When I got home and tried it out it was perfect!.

Until now I didnnullt even know there were that many distortion types! Theres 10 different types and some great effects including Fanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Vibrato, Chorus, Pan...and the delay effects are INSANE!
Built in pedal that can control either Volume, Wah, Resonance, Voice, Ring Mod, +1 Octave or -1 Octave. Not the best Wah but the +1 Oct. is just about the best you can get. |

My friend has the POD something and it is CONSTANTLY breaking and the recording is crappy. No recording on the ME-50 but if it did, it would be godly. Anything you need is right here. Only downside is that there are only 3 pre-settable button.s |

The distortion quality on this thing is incredible. The wah is a little computer-y (is that even a word?? haha) but it sounds good none the less. Delays can go on for HOURS so be careful with that pedal. Phaser is great - better than some of the Digitech effects that you have to pay $100 for one effect 0.o |

The only malfunctions I have experienced are on low battery. But that should/is expected I hope. As for durability, I took this f*cker to the Grand Canyon and it survived. I donnullt think you have to worry about that =P |

I love this thing. Takes 6 AAs so I donnullt have to worry about special batteries or anything. Takes a basic transformer plug if you have one. Same as the Digitech RP80 if that helps you at all. |

This unit is very durable, practicle and versitile. Obviously the unit lacks an EQ which, in my opinion is absolutely necessary in an effects program. You need a quality guitar with this and a quality amp to produce qualitity sounds, very simple...Amazing array of distortions, I tend to get overwhelmed by having so many to choose from, even the variation button contributes significantly towards overdrive realms. In my set up I have a good rack compression sustainer plus, of course, the EQ. This is all you need really to provide yourself with a variety of effects...I do have issues about the modulation chorus and I cannullt seem to get to a high level just yet with the chorus and it could be just my amp and other variables. |

The distortions are wicked, modulation chorus it seems to be lacking whereas phase and flanger are pretty powerful, the others are fun to play with but I donnullt use them too much. |

I really like the simplicity of this unit, plug it into a nice stack and you could have devestating sounds. I donnullt appreciate the quality of the chorus too much which is an extremely important element, but I am still experimenting and tweaking. |

This thing has all the effects you can imagine. A distortion for everybody! 10 distortions each with a variation. Many types of modulation including three types of chorus and unique stuff like rotary speaker and this Uni-V thing. The expression pedal has wah, resonace, voice, octave +1 and octave -1. When not using the expression pedal it turns into a volume pedal. |

My dog (63 lbs.) jumped on it, and it still works perfectly. Itnulls definately steady enough for live gigs. You do need time to adjust the rate and such depending on what effect younullre using. You should also buy the power adapter. Those two things made this only good, not excellent. |

The BOSS ME-50 is a floor system that has an expression pedal with 8 effects, 22 different types of distortion, over ten types of modulation, and over 10 types of delay. The system is surprisingly easy to use. I have used it live several times and it has out-performed any other effects systems that I have owned. It is excellent. |
