Review Behringer Vamp 1

Review by checkit on 17.10.2005

I do not own this pedal but i have spent alot of time using it.
First off ill start by saying, it sucks, dont get it.
The distortions are good and the phaser is ok, but it has a flanger that completely blocks out your original guitar and only the flanging sound can be heard, the wah sucks, autowah is ok, the reverbs are very subtle and are barely noticible while playing with a band.

  Features

Behringer have a tendency to use the worst quality materials so that they can drop the price on their equipment, this shows when listening to the effects, it looks cool with all the lights n stuff and at first glance younullll think "thatnulls shiny" but for the price you might aswell spend the money on a stomp box. It does cover a range of effects but nothing that will blow you away.

  Playability

This does not perform nearly aswell as other effects, i recomend something from zoom if your looking in that price range.

  Quality

It has a built in noise suppresor, when turned off you get noise galore, when on you completely lose all your tone. Effects suck, it doesnt stack anywhere near the other effects.

  Durability

My bands bass player who had used this unit but now it just lays around literally in pieces, the expression pedal broke off, not from extended use, not from hitting it with a hammer but from a 2 ft drop. Its casing is made of plastic and can warp if left in the sun or a hot area for more than 10 minutes. The expression and foot pedals all seem really loose as if they just had a little bar of metal holding them and no screws whatsoever.

  Overall

This should be last on your priorety list, even the tuner cant work properly, i recommend saving your money for something better, recommedations are Boss ME-50, Digitech GNX 1,2,3,4 (if you can afford it,)some of the new products from the Zoom range, and if you have alot of money i totally recommend the Line 6 Pod Xt Live, probably the best multi effects unit either that all the vox tonelab se.
