Review by Decline on 2.4.2005

i bought it from guitar center a few weeks ago. i think they had just gotten a shipment or had some special thing on them, cause the guy was like "were gonna be out of these by the end of the day..." i paid $219 for it.

  Features

its a 2x 30 watt stereo amp, 10 inch jensens. it has slave in, aux in, tape in and out, line out (for mixer) 2 independant channels with 3 amp types, 3 distortion modes (clean, hi gain, and hot), and 3 speaker types on both channels. they also have separate effects. the only downside on the effects is that you can only have one effect on, you have to turn the dial to get different ones (meaning, you cant have chorus, flanger, and reverb on separately during the same song unless youre good with the knob)

  Playability

i cant complain. im just a little bummed that the center didnt have the gmx 212 like i had planned on getting. im yet to test it in a band situation, but i expect it to perform well. it has so much different stuff on it that youre bound to find something you like. actually, i can complain, the only problem is the delayed footswitch reaction. it has a short delay, you gotta push it just a half second before you want the desired result.

  Quality

it has a really low amount of noise, im surprised at how good it sounds. it is a pretty good quality piece, especially for the price. the effects are ok, the auto wah sucks, but it has a good tuner on it.

  Durability

it can get pretty loud, ive never been able to turn it all the way up. if i ever play with drums, i might have to. it can be used for gigs just as long as you dont want use a bunch of different effects. im not used to big amps so i would say it was heavy (bout 60 lbs) but ive never thrown it down any stairs and dont plan to so i cant say how tough it is.

  Overall

what really lured it to me was the bang for the buck basically. i might get another amp just because of a few little things (maybe not enough power, delayed footswitch) but ill definately keep this one. its a good amp.
